Does the Haitian Diaspora have a PAC?
Yes, HDPAC (Haitian Diaspora) is a bipartisan, nonprofit PAC that accepts voluntary contributions from individuals for distribution to federal and state political candidates. All new members are enrolled in HDPAC only.
What agency regulates PACs?
The PACs are regulated by the FEC (Federal Election Committee). A government agency created in 1975 to administer and enforce the Federal Election Campaign Act (FECA) – the statute that governs the financing of federal elections. For more information check out http://www.fec.gov/.
Are my contributions confidential?
No, FEC requires PACs to disclose the name, address, occupation, and employer of each contributor who gives $200 or more in a calendar year and this information will be made public.
How is the PAC managed/governed?
HDPAC's Government Affairs team manages the PAC, which conducts administrative duties, e.g., membership, budget and contributions management. The PAC is governed by a Board of Directors who must abide by its bylaws. Who is eligible to give contributions to the PAC?
Individuals who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. are eligible to contribute to the PAC. Foreign donations are subject to additional regulations.
If I want to participate, am I required to contribute to the PAC?
Contributions are strongly encouraged; however, you are not required to contribute to the PAC. Your contribution is strictly voluntary. The amount you contribute, or your decision not to contribute, will not benefit or disadvantage your involvement with the PAC.
Can a company contribute to the PAC?
Yes. Corporations can donate to the PAC.
Why should I become a member?
HDPAC allows the Haitian Diaspora and others to have a voice in encouraging the election of legislators dedicated to helping the Haitian American community as well as those who support US policies that help Haiti. Additionally, PACs that represent the Haitian Diaspora and contribution dollars from the Haitian Diaspora lag behind other country’s Diaspora’s and special interest groups.
How do I become a member of HDPAC?

Are my contributions tax deductible?
No, contributions are NOT tax deductible for federal income tax purposes, per FEC guidelines.
Is there a limit to my contributions?
There is no limit to contributions.
Does HDPAC have to disclose the contributions made to candidates or committees?
Yes. All contributions are publicly disclosed on FEC.gov.
